Tesco has issued an urgent recall of its Tesco Free From 4 Christmas Chocolate Flavoured Cupcakes after discovering they may contain milk not declared on the label.
The recall affects 220g packs of the festive cupcakes with best before dates up to and including 17 January 2026. The retailer said the presence of undeclared milk means the product presents a potential health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.
The recall comes just weeks after Tesco withdrew its Tesco 6 Aubergine Katsu Bao Buns (258g) festive party food from sale nationwide after identifying the same undeclared milk issue.
Tesco has recalled the affected product and contacted relevant allergy support organisations to inform their members. The retailer has also issued recall notices explaining the reason for the recall and what customers should do next.
In the notice, the retailer said:
No other Tesco products are affected by this recall. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
Customers who have bought the cupcakes and have a milk allergy or intolerance are advised not to consume them. Instead, they should return the product to any Tesco store for a full refund, with no receipt required. Further information is available via Tesco Customer Services.
The recall follows renewed precautionary advice from the Food Standards Agency as Christmas demand peaks, urging consumers with allergies to avoid Dubai-style chocolate after identifying products that fail to meet UK food safety and labelling standards.
