In the latest instalment of Recall Roundup, New Food highlights recent food and beverage recalls in the UK and US.

Recall Roundup: ingredient omission, undeclared allergens and bacteria contamination

Undeclared peanuts
In the UK, Prestat is recalling several of its chocolate products because the packages may contain undeclared peanuts. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts.

The products being recalled are:
• The London Collection Box, 200g (Batch code: 148148, 139139) with a best-before date of 29 January 2025
• The Jewel Box, 120g and 210g (Batch code: 179179) with a best-before date of 16 January 2025
• The Jewel Box, 325g (Batch code: 226226, 139139) with best-before dates of 16 January 2025 and 27 February 2025
• The London Collection Earl Grey Thins, 200g (Batch code: 345345) with a best-before date of 19 May 2025
• The Festive House Earl Grey Truffles, 60g (Batch code: 149149) with a best-before date of 17 June 2025

Prestat is advising anyone who has bought any of the above products and has an allergy to peanuts not to eat them. Instead, return them to the store where they were bought for a full refund, with or without a receipt.

Undeclared sulphites
Sunco & Frenchie LLC is recalling its Terrafina Golden Raisins, 10oz, because they may contain undeclared sulphites. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sulphites run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Terrafina Golden Raisins were distributed in New York through retail stores by distributor Smith Valley Foods, LLC.

The recalled product comes in a 10-ounce, clear plastic square-shaped container with bright orange labelling on the front. The back of the product is marked with “Best If Used By 08/2025, Lot#GRA240602” and “Best If Used By 05/2025, Lot#GDR240901.” The UPC is 847938001385.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors, and subsequent analysis by the Food Laboratory revealed that the sulphite-containing product was distributed in packages that did not reveal the presence of sulphites.

Consumers who have purchased Terrafina Brand Golden Raisins are urged not to consume the products and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Undeclared Wheat and Milk
The latest U.S. recall comes from M&P Food Production Ltd, which is recalling multiple flavours of blintzes, pirozhki, and vareniki because they may contain undeclared wheat, milk, and/or sesame. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat, milk, and/or sesame run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The blintzes, pirozhki, and vareniki were distributed in retail stores across the U.S. and contain best-before dates from 08/27/2024 to 08/27/2025.

The recalled products are identified as follows:

• Cheese Blintzes, 14 OZ. (396g), UPC: 707163303251
• Pirozhki with Black Currant, 40 pcs. in the box, No UPC Code
• Pirozhki with Potatoes, 40 pcs. in the box, No UPC Code
• Pirozhki with Cabbage, 40 pcs. in the box, No UPC Code
• Sour Cherry Vareniki, 14 OZ., UPC: 707163026150
• Potato & Onion Vareniki, 14 OZ., UPC: 707163026167
• Potato & Mushroom Vareniki, Net Wt. 14 OZ., UPC: 707163026174
• Farmer Cheese Vareniki, Net Wt. 14 OZ., UPC: 707163026181

No illnesses have been reported to date.

Consumers who have purchased the products are urged to return them to the place of purchase.
