Partnership delivers essential food supplies to local communities

Following its partnership with Perenco UK, OEG Offshore has donated more than £2,000 of essential food and household items to charities in Great Yarmouth, England.

The donation comes in the midst of the cost of living crisis and is something that OEG Offshore has said “aims to provide much-needed support to those in need within the local community”.

What’s more, according to Statista, between 2021/22 approximately 2.17 million people used a foodbank in the UK. While this was a decrease when compared with the previous year, The Trussell Trust has stated that it provided 1.3 million emergency food parcels to those in need between April and September 2022 alone, suggesting that food insecurity is an ongoing problem.  

However, OEG Offshore’s attempted to ease the burden by delivering a 6ft offshore mini container which reportedly allowed Perenco UK to distribute over 250 food hampers with a range of non-perishable items such as canned goods, cereals, rice, pasta, snacks and toiletries to support people in crisis.

Commenting on the donation, David Waters, Supply Chain Manager of Perenco UK, said: “We have received so much food to help lots of families and individuals in the local area, it has been humbling.  It’s made a real difference to those most in need during this difficult time.”
