PICS Soy Sauce has been recalled because the products may contain fish, an allergen not declared on the label.

LA-based Baumer Foods, Inc is recalling 10oz PICS Soy Sauce, because it may contain undeclared fish. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to fish run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

PICS Soy Sauce was distributed only in Upstate New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire through Price Chopper Supermarkets, Market Bistro and Market 32’s.

Baumer Foods has stated to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that no other PICS Soy Sauce products are affected by this recall and there have been no related illnesses confirmed as of 6 June 2019.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the product was labeled as soy sauce without the known fish allergen but the bottle actually contained Worcestershire sauce. Worcestershire Sauce has the known allergen fish.

A subsequent investigation has indicated that the problem was caused by a temporary oversight during the packaging processes.
