This week’s recall roundup: undeclared milk and boiled sweets

This week’s recall roundup from the UK and North America includes failure to mention milk content on labels and potential salmonella contamination.

In the United Kingdom…

Greco Brothers Ltd is recalling its Greco Brothers 20 Choc Wafers because the product contains milk which is not correctly declared on the label. Waitrose is recalling its Waitrose Sweet Potato Fries because they may contain wheat (gluten) and soya which are not mentioned on the label. Tesco is recalling its Tesco Pea and Spinach Dip and Tesco Roasted Carrot and Chickpea Dip because they contain milk which is not mentioned on the label.

Spartan Protein is recalling four products, Peanut Butter & Cacao Flapjack, Peanut Butter & Honey Flapjack, Total Recovery, and Pure Whey protein because they contain milk, peanuts and wheat (gluten) which are not emphasised correctly on the label. This means these products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents or wheat (gluten) or an allergy to peanuts.

Candyco recalls Monarch Confectionary chocolate satins (boiled sweets) and three flavours of Monarch Confectionary macaroon bars, because they contain milk, which is not correctly declared on the label. Waitrose is recalling Waitrose Aromatic Green & White Chickpea and Bean Salad with a basil yogurt dressing, because it contains wheat and barley (gluten), nuts, mustard and soya which are not mentioned on the label. 

Cully and Sully is recalling its Smoked Haddock and Salmon Chowder because it contains molluscs which are not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to molluscs.

In North America…

Canada Herb is recalling Canada Herb brand culantro (Ngò Gai) from the marketplace due to possible Salmonella contamination. Sofina Foods Inc. is recalling Janes brand Pub Style Chicken Strips from the marketplace due to possible Salmonella contamination.  Consumers should not consume the recalled products. Maple Leaf Foods Inc. is recalling Schneiders brand Country Naturals Wieners from the marketplace because they may contain milk which is not declared on the label.

In America, Barcelona Nut Company of Baltimore, Maryland is recalling 239 cases of roasted and salted in-shell pistachios because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Frito-Lay announced a voluntary recall of select 1/2 oz. bags of Smartfood Delight Sea Salt Flavored popcorn because they were inadvertently filled with cheese flavored tortilla chips that contain undeclared milk ingredients.
