Nestlé and World Farmers’ Organisation partner to build climate-resilient food systems

Nestlé and the World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) have announced a new partnership aimed at strengthening food system resilience as the impacts of climate change intensify.

Farmers are facing the challenges of climate change every day, but they are also driving the solutions. Real change demands holistic approaches and collaboration across the value chain.”

The collaboration, described as the first of its kind, will focus on developing policies and practices to support farmers, including regenerative agriculture techniques designed to improve soil health, boost biodiversity and secure long-term productivity.

“Farmers are facing the challenges of climate change every day, but they are also driving the solutions,” said Arnold Puech d’Alissac, President of the WFO.

“Real change demands holistic approaches and collaboration across the value chain. This partnership with Nestlé aims to lead by example, showing how farmers and industry can work together, with trust and respect, to build food systems that are fair, resilient, and sustainable for people and the planet.”

“Putting farmers at the centre”

The WFO, which represents over one billion farmers in more than 50 countries, has been increasingly vocal about the need for agricultural voices to shape climate and food policy. Nestlé, which works with around 600,000 farmers globally, says the partnership with the World Farmers’ Organisation is designed to bring those perspectives directly into decision-making processes.

“Farmers, who are deeply aware of today’s crop production challenges, are highly proficient at adapting and finding ways to work with the planet’s natural resources to produce food,” said Chris Hogg, Nestlé’s Global Head of Public Affairs. “By partnering with the WFO, we want to put farmers at the centre and share their insights and concerns to help inform food policies.”

Key areas of focus will include raising awareness of regenerative agriculture, strengthening farmers’ technical capacity, and co-developing farming models that are viable both economically and environmentally. Both organisations see engaging the next generation of farmers as key to securing the resilience of global food systems.
