Tesco recalls chilled pasta salads after detecting Salmonella in routine tests, warning customers not to eat affected items.

Tesco is recalling three chilled pasta salads sold as part of its meal deal range following the detection of salmonella during routine food safety testing. The affected products, with use-by dates of 24 and 25 July 2025, were sold in stores across the UK.
The recall includes:
- Tesco Basil Pesto & Semi Dried Tomato Pasta, 225g – use by 24 July 2025
- Tesco Chicken & Chorizo Pasta, 285g – use by 24 and 25 July 2025
- Tesco Feta & Semi Dried Tomato Pasta, 290g – use by 24 July 2025
Potential salmonella symptoms and advice for consumers
Salmonella infection can cause serious illness, particularly in vulnerable groups such as young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. Common symptoms include fever, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and, in some cases, bloody diarrhoea.
All affected stores are displaying point-of-sale notices to alert customers and explain the steps they should take. The notice reads:
If you have purchased the affected date code of the above product, please do not eat it. Instead, return it to any Tesco store for a full refund. No receipt is required. No other Tesco products are affected by this recall.”
Customers are advised to return the affected products immediately. For additional consumer safety, health authorities recommend washing items and surfaces that may have touched contaminated products using hot soapy water or a dishwasher, and to call a healthcare provider if severe salmonella symptoms occur. Earlier this week, Waitrose and Partners withdrew its Indian Takeaway for Two after finding some packs mispacked with spring rolls containing undeclared sesame and soya allergens.
