Captain Morgan is deepening its footprint in the ready-to-drink (RTD) space with the launch of Muck Pit Brew, a new tropical-flavoured innovation rolling out across Great Britain.

This latest release sits within a growing RTD strategy from brand owner Diageo, as the rum brand continues to diversify its offering to meet evolving consumer habits across Europe, Africa and Asia.

Blending Captain Morgan Original Spiced Gold with brewed mango and a hint of hops, Muck Pit Brew delivers a sparkling rum-based drink with a tropical twist. It’s designed to offer “the body of a beer but with the finish of a spirit” – a hybrid profile aimed squarely at social settings like beer gardens and festivals.

Captain Morgan Muck Pit is more than just a product innovation; it’s a new brand extension that champions flavour.  We combined insights into the evolving ways that consumers socialise today with inspiration from traditional production methods to create the unique innovation that we call Captain Morgan Muck Pit Brew.”

At 4% ABV, Muck Pit Brew is being launched in select on-trade venues via a partnership with LWC Drinks, with wider off-trade availability – in both 440ml and 330ml multipacks – expected next year. Early testing showed strong appeal, with 91 percent of focus group participants saying they would drink it in relaxed, casual settings.

Diageo’s broader ambitions

The launch headlines Diageo’s broader ambitions for Captain Morgan within the fast-growing RTD category. It follows the recent expansion of the Sliced range, a canned cocktail line introduced last year, with the new Sweet vs. Heat flavours designed to attract younger consumers seeking bold, adventurous drinks.

The new Sliced variants include Chili Lime Margarita, Jalapeño Paloma, Blackberry Mojito, and Peach on the Beach. These follow original cocktail-inspired favourites such as Strawberry Margarita, Pineapple Daiquiri, and Mango Mai Tai. Unlike traditional spirits, Sliced drinks are made with malt alcohol and carry a slightly higher ABV of 5%.
