PepsiCo Europe has announced the appointment of Archana Jagannathan as its new Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) for Europe.

Effective immediately, Jagannathan will oversee and accelerate sustainability goals across the business, reporting to Europe CEO Silviu Popovici and Global Chief Sustainability Officer Jim Andrew.

Jagannathan has been with PepsiCo since 2018, leading initiatives related to climate, energy, water, and sustainability. During her tenure, she has played key role in developing PepsiCo’s sustainable packaging strategy for Europe. This strategy includes commitments to achieve 100 percent recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) and eliminate virgin-fossil-based plastic in all crisp and chip bags by 2030.

Her appointment comes at an exciting time for PepsiCo, as it continues to implement its sustainability-focused transformation strategy known as PepsiCo Positive (pep+). Jagannathan’s role will involve integrating sustainability into decision-making processes and overall business strategy.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the new role, Jagannathan highlighted PepsiCo’s longstanding commitment to sustainability and the value that pep+ brings to the organisation.

“Through innovation and collaboration among key industry players, PepsiCo is focused on delivering systemic change and building a truly circular economy for the better of the global food system, which will be a key focus in my new role,” said Jagannathan.

PepsiCo expressed its gratitude to outgoing CSO Katharina Stenholm for her leadership and accomplishments during her tenure with the company.

With Jagannathan’s expertise and PepsiCo’s continued focus on sustainability, the company aims to drive meaningful progress towards its environmental goals and contribute to a more sustainable and circular food system.
