Starbucks has confirmed that its Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL) will return to stores in the US from 26 August 2025, alongside a new pecan oatmilk beverage and seasonal food launches. The PSL, first introduced more than 20 years ago, continues to feature real pumpkin, espresso, steamed milk, cinnamon, nutmeg and whipped cream, available hot, iced or blended.
New pecan oatmilk beverages
The 2025 autumn menu introduces the Pecan Oatmilk Cortado, which combines Starbucks Blonde Espresso with oatmilk, pecan flavour, brown butter notes and holiday spices, finished with a pecan crunch topping.
Patrick Penny, Starbucks’ lead beverage developer, said:
“The saltiness and browned butter notes combined with the toasted pecan flavours are the perfect complement to the Cortado’s bold espresso base.”
The Pecan Crunch Oatmilk Latte also returns, available hot or iced, the latter served with vanilla sweet cream cold foam.
Returning autumn favourites
Several established drinks are back for 2025. The Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew combines Cold Brew coffee with vanilla syrup, pumpkin cream cold foam and a dusting of pumpkin spice. The Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai Tea Latte, inspired by barista and customer customisations, blends spiced chai notes with pumpkin cream cold foam.
Autumn food menu
Starbucks has added Italian Sausage Egg Bites, prepared with cage-free eggs, crumbled Italian sausage, sundried tomato pesto, basil and Monterey Jack cheese, cooked using the sous vide method to create a smooth, velvety texture. Returning items include the Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin and the Raccoon Cake Pop.
Coffee spotlight: Guatemala Casi Cielo®
The menu also features Guatemala Casi Cielo® Coffee, a single-origin medium roast from Guatemala’s Antigua Valley. Noted for citrus and cocoa notes, it will be served as Starbucks’ medium roast coffee of the day and is available as whole beans.
Behind the menu
Starbucks’ 2025 autumn launch illustrates several current trends in the coffee and foodservice industry. The continued use of real pumpkin and oatmilk demonstrates the mainstream adoption of natural ingredients and plant-based alternatives. The introduction of pecan-flavoured beverages shows careful balancing of complementary taste notes against espresso, while the use of sous vide for the Italian Sausage Egg Bites highlights how precision cooking techniques are being scaled for quick-service restaurants. The return of the Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai, which originated from barista and customer customisations, provides insight into how informal feedback can inform formal product development decisions. Overall, the menu offers a snapshot of how consumer trends, flavour innovation and production techniques intersect in seasonal product launches.
