Undeclared allergens

In the UK, Marks & Spencer has announced that it is recalling its M&S Chocolate Cornflake Mini Bites as they contain contain hazelnuts (nuts), oats (gluten) and wheat (gluten), that are not mentioned on the label.

The product comes in a pack size of 180g and has a best before date of 06 August 2024.

As well as recalling the above product, the supermarket has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations that will inform their members about the recall.

In addition, M&S has issued a recall notice to consumers to explain why the product is being recalled and advises them what they should do if they have purchased the product.

Advice states that anyone who has purchased the recalled product and has an allergy to hazelnuts (nuts) and/or an allergy or intolerance to oats, wheat or gluten, they should not eat it. Instead the product can be returned to the store of purchase for a full refund.

Foreign objects

Meanwhile, in the US, Reser’s Fine Foods is recalling its Hill Country Fare Mustard Potato Salad 48oz (3LB) due to the possibility of pieces of hard plastic foreign material in the package.

The company claims that this recall has been issued “out of an abundance of caution” and has also said “no injuries have been reported”.

Via the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) website, the company has issued a statement confirmed that “all impacted product has been removed from the shelf”.

Advice to consumers states that anyone who purchased this product can return it to the store of purchase for a full refund. Alternatively they can discard the item.
