Haribo is recalling its Happy Cola F!ZZ sweets in the Netherlands after traces of cannabis were found. Several consumers reported feeling unwell, prompting a police investigation.

Haribo has recalled some of its popular sweets in the Netherlands after tests revealed traces of cannabis, raising health concerns for consumers. The recall affects 1kg bags of Haribo Happy Cola F!ZZ sweets with a best-before date of January 2026.
The Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) confirmed that samples taken from the affected packs tested positive for cannabis, following reports of people feeling unwell after consumption. Symptoms included dizziness, according to officials.
Precautionary recall in place
Three contaminated packs have been identified so far, but Haribo has decided to recall its entire stock of the product as a precautionary measure. NVWA has urged consumers not to eat the sweets, warning that consumption could lead to health issues.
“Do not eat the sweets,” the agency said in a statement. “These products can cause health complaints, such as dizziness, when consumed.”
Investigation underway
Police in the Netherlands are investigating how the cannabis ended up in the sweets. It is currently unclear whether the contaminated products are genuine Haribo bags or counterfeit items.
A Haribo spokesperson said the company is working closely with the authorities to understand the source of the contamination, adding that consumer safety is its highest priority.
The recall applies only to the Netherlands, and Haribo has assured customers that all other products remain safe to consume.
