Kellogg’s Chocolate Corn Flakes discontinued after recall, no plans to return

Kellogg’s has confirmed its popular Chocolate Corn Flakes will not return to UK supermarket shelves, following last year’s recall over potential safety concerns.

Kellogg’s Chocolate Corn Flakes have officially been discontinued in the UK, following last year’s recall that raised safety concerns. The cereal, known for its crunchy cocoa-coated flakes, will not be returning to supermarket shelves, leaving fans disappointed.

The popular breakfast option was recalled in May 2024 after the discovery of hard lumps in a small number of boxes, which posed a potential choking hazard and risk of dental damage. At the time, Kellogg’s advised customers to stop eating the product immediately, although the company described the issue as affecting only a “small proportion” of packs.

Shoppers left disappointed

The cereal’s discontinuation comes as a blow for shoppers who had hoped for a return, especially after a brief reappearance last year. Social media had seen a flurry of speculation about the product’s potential comeback, reflecting its strong fan base. However, Kellogg’s has confirmed that there are no plans to bring the product back.

A short-lived comeback

The chocolate-flavoured version had only been on sale for a few months before being pulled from shelves, after more than a decade away. It featured the same classic flakes but with a cocoa coating for a chocolatey crunch — different from the older version, which was fully coated in chocolate.

The discontinuation comes as supermarkets continue to manage product recalls and safety concerns, including recent high-profile recalls at major retailers like Tesco, Asda and Morrisons.

So what’s next for Kellogg’s Chocolate Corn Flakes? Unfortunately, nothing. Kellogg’s has confirmed there are no plans for a comeback, focusing instead on its core range of cereals and ensuring product safety for UK shoppers.

A spokesperson from Kellanova said:

“Making good food which is safe and high quality is our number one priority at Kellanova. Clusters of cereal forming during production can be a normal occurrence and these usually break up when eaten or placed in milk. But, when we spotted that hard lumps of cereal were forming in a very small amount of our new Kellogg’s Corn Flakes Chocolate Flavour cereal, we took the decision to recall all product.”
