Campbell Soup Company (NYSE:CPB) will be honored tonight by the American Heart Association at its annual New York City Heart Ball with the “Mission Achievement Award.” Campbell is the first recipient of the award, which was established to recognize an organization whose extraordinary efforts help to advance the mission of the American Heart Association through consumer public education and awareness, corporate support and industry leadership in prevention.

Denise Morrison, President of Campbell North America Soup, Sauces and Beverages, will accept the award on behalf of Campbell. “The American Heart Association represents the gold standard for heart health awareness and they are a key strategic partner of Campbell,” said Morrison. “We are honored to be recognized for our efforts to promote a heart-healthy lifestyle, from our great-tasting, heart-healthy soups, sauces, beverages and breads in the marketplace, to the culture of wellness we have created in the workplace.”

Campbell has been a national supporter of the AHA’s Go Red For Women movement since 2006 and has pledged more than $3.6 million to help raise awareness of heart disease in women. Through Campbell’s “AdDress Your Heart” program, the company helps women learn about their risk of heart disease and the importance of healthy eating to manage disease risk factors.

“The American Heart Association is proud to honor Campbell Soup Company with the Heart of New York Mission Achievement Award,” said Jeffrey C. LeSage, Chairman of the Board of the American Heart Association – New York City Board of Directors and National Managing Partner, Tax, KPMG. “Campbell continues to lead the charge against heart disease and stroke. Through its products in the marketplace and corporate wellness programs in its facilities across the country, Campbell is making a real contribution in helping to build longer and healthier lives for all Americans.”

Committed to Heart Health in the Marketplace and Workplace

Campbell works closely with the AHA on programs to promote a healthy lifestyle.

In the marketplace, Campbell offers more than 115 products that meet criteria to display the American Heart Association’s heart-check mark, which helps people to easily identify heart-healthy foods. Among the products that display the heart-check mark are 25 varieties of Campbell’s Healthy Request soups, 28 varieties of Pepperidge Farm whole grain breads, Low Sodium V8 juice and all V8 V-Fusion juices, Prego Heart Smart Italian sauces and Swanson Chicken.

In the workplace, Campbell provides a variety of wellness programs to encourage employees to take charge of their health. The AHA has recognized Campbell as a platinum-level “Fit Friendly Company” for four years. This is the highest level of recognition, accorded because of the company’s efforts to promote a heart-healthy lifestyle for employees. Campbell offers a host of health and wellness programs at all of its U.S. locations that promote physical activity, balanced eating and disease prevention.

Healthy Achievements

In May, Morrison also was honored by the AHA’s North Jersey affiliate with their “Women of Distinction” award. This award recognizes and celebrates women who promote a healthy lifestyle for or among women.
