S&R Foods in UK, a MicVac customer, is producing a range of chilled ready meals, under the East End brand, that has been launched in Tesco Extra stores. The products, mainly Indian curry dishes, hit the shelves on June 20, 2011.
In June, S&R Foods started producing a range of meals for East End Foods, which will supply Tesco’s Extra stores. “We are going to manufacture a range of Indian ready meals under the East End label, but with our technology,” says Asad Hussain, Commercial Director at S&R Foods. “At the moment in 50 selected stores but hopefully with a roll-out.”
Tesco will be the first major UK supermarket to employ the innovative technology, although the packaging is already being used by S&R in the Whistling Chef range created for Makro last year. S&R also supplies Rail Gourmet, which handles the catering for the major UK rail operators.
