The 25th International Food and Drink Exhibition (IFDEX) will take place at the Metropolitan Expo Exhibition Centre in Athens from 9 – 11 March 2012.

Well established as the leading business event for the food and drink industries in Greece and neighbouring countries, the International Food and Drink Exhibition provides food and drink producers, distributors and brand owners with an unparalleled opportunity to present their products. It also serves as a showcase for suppliers of products and equipment directly related to the supply and provision of food and drink.

Visitors to the trade-only show will include senior representatives and buyers from major and independent retailers, restaurants, hotels and cafes, food service providers, wholesalers and distributors, as well as government figures and media representatives.

Dimitris Iliopoulos of organisers Mack Brooks Hellas commented “Our event returns once again as the leading specialised food and drink fair in Greece. The show will provide a very clear focus on the two key areas of the market. These will be well defined at the Metropolitan Expo, with one part of the exhibition dedicated to companies serving the food market and another assigned to exhibitors in the drinks sector, including all related technology and equipment”.

The previous exhibition in 2011 attracted some 15,000 trade visitors from 32 countries. And while 95% of these were from Greece – including 54% from the Attica region – a significant 5% were from abroad.

Exhibitors in 2011 totalled 330. They ranged from leading Greek and international brands to specialist artisan producers, with 47% taking a stand at the event for the first time.

The exhibition will be supported by a full programme of seminars addressing issues of interest to the food and drink industries. Details of these will be announced via the show website as they become available. Plans are also being developed for ‘Meet the Buyers’ sessions, bringing together Greek producers and foreign buyers.

The International Food and Drink Exhibition (IFDEX) has the support of leading industry and government bodies, including: ESTIA, Non-Profit Organization for the Promotion of Greek Food and Gastronomy; the Exporters’ Association of Crete; BIO Hellas, Inspection Institute for Organic Products; SEVITEL, Greek Association of Olive Oil Industries and Processors; SEVEK, Greek Association of Meat Processing Industries. It is also endorsed by the Cyprus Trade Center of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Athens.

Greece’s leading food and drink trade magazine “Trofima & Pota” is Official Media Partner for IFDEX 2012.
