Burton’s Foods, a leading player in the UK biscuit market, proudly announces the company’s Finance Director, Jim Green, has been recognised as Private Company Financial Director of the Year at the prestigious FDs’ Excellence Awards 2011.

Held in association with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and supported by the CBI, the awards recognise individual finance directors based on an annual survey of around 1,000 finance professionals and are judged by leading industry experts. The award winners were announced at a ceremony held recently in Grosvenor Square, central London.

Burton’s Foods, which produces iconic and much-loved brands including Cadbury Biscuits, Maryland Cookies and Jammie Dodgers, deployed a transformational business plan in 2010 which saw the business focus on its Power Brands and increase its investment in new product development. Green was credited with helping drive financial efficiency across Burton’s Foods’ operations, raising company-wide performance over the past year and positioning the business for continued growth.

Ben Clarke, CEO of Burton’s Foods commented: “We’re delighted Jim’s efforts have been recognised by the financial community. Burton’s Foods position as a leading innovator in the biscuit market can only be maintained with a best-in-class team across the various functions of the business. Jim and his team’s work is testament to this company-wide commitment to staying ahead of the curve.”

Jim Green added: “Over the past year, we’ve focused our business on capitalising on the increasing opportunities in the marketplace. The financial plans we’ve put in place are designed to deliver long-term growth and we continue to exceed targets and expectations.”
