Members of the International Association for Food Protection recently elected Dr. Donald L. Zink to the Executive Board as Secretary. Dr. Zink will take office at the conclusion of IAFP 2011 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and will fulfill a five-year commitment to the Association, serving as President beginning in August 2015.

Dr. Zink is the Senior Science Advisor for the U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) in College Park, Maryland. Prior to his current position, he served as a Senior Food Scientist in the Office of Food Safety with CFSAN.

Dr. Zink has been an IAFP member since 1996 and a member of the Capital Area IAFP Affiliate since 2010. He has been active as a past member of the Program Committee and the Selection Committee and currently serves as Vice Chair of the Foundation Committee. In 2003, Dr. Zink gave the Ivan Parkin Lecture at the IAFP Annual Meeting and has been an invited speaker at numerous meetings, both in the U.S. and internationally.

Dr. Zink holds a B.S. from Abilene Christian University and an M.S. in Microbiology and Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Biophysics from Texas A&M University.
