The UK functional foods category is set for a new arrival in the shape of Vetta High Fibre Pasta, offering a healthy and innovative alternative to retailers.

Produced and crafted by Australian company Rinoldi, Vetta’s High Fibre range provides consumers with a high-fibre option that looks and tastes the same as standard, everyday pasta. Vetta says its High Fibre range is low GI and naturally low in fat making it ideal for those monitoring their blood glucose levels, or for those looking to introduce low GI foods into their everyday diets. Nutritionists highlight the importance of fibre in an everyday diet. Whilst a diet high in fibre may aid in lowering the risk of heart disease and diabetes, benefits have also been known to include stabilising blood glucose levels, maintaining and assisting with weight loss, and the ability to prevent or relieve constipation. A diet high in fibre also helps to reduce the risk of digestive and bowel diseases.

The range was recognised by Australian consumers in 2014 as the country’s number one healthy pantry staple of the year.

Vetta High Fibre range supported by social media drive

Mark Perrin, European Managing Director at Vetta comments, ‘We are thrilled to be launching in the UK and addressing the increasing demand for functional foods.

“When most people think of high-fibre it is often associated with wholegrain, thick, heavy products that are nutritionally beneficial yet less appealing in taste; the Vetta range is created using authentic Italian pasta making techniques and provides an easy way to increase fibre intake without altering the taste or eating experience. This also makes it a great way for parents to increase their child’s fibre intake, without the added stress of trying to change what they eat.”

The launch of Vetta High Fibre is being supported by a social media drive and targeted outreach to key influencers, to create a buzz and demand ahead of listings being secured.

The High Fibre family of products continues to rank most popular in the Vetta range and is available in the UK in four varieties: Penne, Fusilli, Fettuccine and Spaghetti.
