Pasta Evangelists has achieved Safe to Trade Approved status at all 47 sites, becoming a leader in hospitality food safety and hygiene standards.

Pasta Evangelists has become the first multi-site UK hospitality business to achieve Safe to Trade Approved status across all 47 of its locations, including dine-in restaurants, dark kitchens, and recipe kit services.

The Safe to Trade Scheme is a voluntary, third-party food safety assurance programme created specifically for the hospitality sector. It supports and builds on the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme by introducing more frequent and rigorous checks. These include annual audits covering front-of-house cleanliness, allergen management, food labelling, and hygiene practices—areas that matter most to consumers.

With more than 78% of diners now actively researching food hygiene standards before choosing where to eat or order from, visibility of food safety credentials is increasingly vital. The Safe to Trade register provides consumers with up-to-date listings of approved venues, helping them to make informed decisions and building trust between businesses and their customers.

“Safe to Trade is there to protect the consumer,” said Debra Piergentili, Quality and Safety Director at Pasta Evangelists. “Finally, we found a consumer standard tailored to hospitality—something which did not exist before. Safe to Trade gives us something to strive for and helps us maintain consistent, high standards across all our services.”

The certification audits for Pasta Evangelists were carried out by qualified Environmental Health Practitioners from Shield Safety, the body responsible for assessing Safe to Trade applicants.

John Barnes, former Head of Local Delivery at the Food Standards Agency and a member of the Safe to Trade Independent Governance Board, commented:

“We’re thrilled to welcome Pasta Evangelists to the programme. Achieving Safe to Trade Approved status across all sites is a major milestone and shows the business’s commitment to consumer health and trust.”

The achievement spans Pasta Evangelists’ full offering—from dine-in locations to takeaway delivery and make-at-home recipe kits—and underscores the brand’s dedication to quality and safety at every customer touchpoint.
