Each year, the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) hosts its Annual Meeting in North America, providing attendees from around the world with information on and opportunities to hear and share current and emerging food safety issues, the latest science, innovative solutions to new and recurring problems, and the opportunity to network with thousands of food safety professionals. This year, IAFP’s Annual Meeting returns to the coast in Long Beach, California. Attendees at IAFP 2024 will “dive into the food safety waters” at the Long Beach Convention Center, from Sunday, July 14 through Wednesday, July 17.

The IAFP Annual Meeting is attended by thousands of top industry, academic, and governmental food safety professionals from six continents. This renowned event owes its reputation and success to the quantity, quality, and diversity of each year’s program; the quality and relevance of exhibitors sharing the latest in available technologies; leading experts speaking on a variety of timely topics; and special recognition of outstanding professionals and students for their contributions in the food safety field.

Five Pre-Meeting Workshops will take place before the conference in Long Beach. Led by experts in their respective fields, the following Pre-Meeting Workshops give attendees a jump-start on their food safety learning experiences:

• Demystifying dry cleaning: understanding the when, how and why of dry cleaning and sanitizing (disinfecting)
• Selecting and validating pathogen reduction processes for low-moisture foods and ingredients
• Whole genome and metagenomic sequence analyses: a tutorial and hands-on workshop to help understand this process
• Application of principles of hazard analysis – beyond the basics
• How to select the best solutions to common food safety culture problems
