What’s in your soup? Campbell wants to tell you

Campbell Soup Company is taking a big step towards being more open and honest with its consumers – about what goes into its food, about how it makes its food and about the choices behind the ingredients it uses.


To be more transparent about the ingredients that go in to its products, Campbell has launched a new platform for customers, whatsinmyfood.com, where people can access a wide range of information about the Company’s foods. Campbell’s have listened to the questions and concerns it has received from customers and now have all the information available in one easily accessible place.

Campbell includes information on MSG and GM derived ingredients

The site provides content on several of Campbell’s top US brands, such as iconic Campbell’s Condensed Tomato and Chicken Noodle soups, Slow Kettle Style and Healthy Request soups and Campbell’s Dinner Sauces. As well as descriptions of the key ingredients that go in to the iconic brands, Campbell has included information on ingredients that may be derived from genetically modified crops (for example, the corn syrup and citric acid in Condensed Tomato soup) or recipes that contain MSG.

Campbell has also taken a transparent approach when discussed the packaging of its foods. For example, the Company discusses coating the inside of soup cans with a thin layer of plastic to separate the food from the metal and note that the lining may contain a substance called bisphenol A or BPA. 

Over the next year, the Company plans to expand the site to include all major brands in the US and Canada, with plans to expand globally over the next three years.
