Developed in collaboration with nutritionists and chefs, Tesco’s Plentifuel range launches with five chilled meals designed to maximise nutritional value in smaller, affordable portions.

Tesco has launched a new range of chilled meals designed to provide protein, fibre and essential micronutrients in convenient portions for £3 each.
The Plentifuel range has been developed in collaboration with nutritionists and chefs to offer balanced, nutrient-dense meals at an affordable price. Each 300g portion contains fewer than 400 calories, is high in protein, provides a source of fibre and counts towards one of the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables a day.
The launch comes after Marks and Spencer announced their own range of nutrient dense meals earlier this year. As consumers are increasingly focussed on the nutritional value of their food, these ranges will help customers make the most of smaller meals without compromising on nutrition or taste.
Five meals available at launch
The initial range comprises five chilled meals, each priced at £3. Customers can also buy them as part of Tesco’s Any 3 for £8 Clubcard Prices promotion.
The meals available included in the range are katsu chicken, pesto chicken pasta, beef & lentil bolognese, chicken & chorizo paella and three bean chilli.
Each of these meals contains a range of essential micronutrients, including iron, zinc, calcium, magnesium and potassium. The recipes incorporate ingredients such as vegetables and wholegrains to provide nutritional value alongside convenience.
The portion sizes are also designed to appeal to people who prefer smaller meals, including those managing their weight or experiencing reduced appetites due to age, lifestyle changes.
For people with smaller appetites, obtaining sufficient nutrients from food can require additional planning. Tesco said Plentifuel aims to simplify this by offering convenient meals with clear nutritional information, while keeping flavour central to the recipes.
We know that more customers are thinking carefully about what they get from the food they eat. With Plentifuel, we wanted to make that choice easier. We’ve created meals that are full of flavour while providing protein and fibre in a really convenient format. These first meals are just the start for Plentifuel, we’re really excited to introduce the range to customers and then build on it with even more products next year, all with the same focus on helping people make every mouthful count.”

Further products planned for 2027
The five meals mark the first stage of the Plentifuel launch, with Tesco planning to expand the range throughout 2027 to give customers more options.
The supermarket said the new range forms part of its wider commitment to making healthy, sustainably produced food accessible to customers across different budgets and lifestyles.
Other options available in stores include Tesco’s High Protein range, alongside its recently launched ’Made Without Added Nitrites’ range of ham and bacon products. The supermarket also offers Tesco Finest beef and pork products made with either three or six ingredients and no added preservatives.
Plentifuel adds to these options for shoppers who are seeking convenient meals with a focus on nutritional value, as Tesco looks to broaden its offering for customers with differing dietary needs and appetites.
