Cultivated meat company Meatly has relocated to Grapht Works, Imperial College London’s pilot and advanced manufacturing site, as it prepares to scale production and open its first production runs in 2027.

The move to the facility, located within the Old Oak Innovation Cluster in West London, marks the next stage in the company’s expansion, and is supported by Meatly’s £10.4 million Series A funding round, announced in May.

Preparing for large-scale production

Grapht Works is London’s first dedicated facility for pilot and demonstration manufacturing. Developed in response to growing demand from deep tech companies transitioning from research and development (R&D) to commercial production, it provides flexible industrial space for businesses to develop, test and scale manufacturing processes.

Meatly plans to use the facility to prepare for the next phase of its manufacturing operations, with the aim of creating Europe’s largest cultivated meat facility and beginning large-scale production.

Moving to Grapht Works is a significant step as we prepare to scale cultivated meat and become fully operational next year. We will be creating Europe’s largest cultivated meat facility and begin the move to large scale production. Imperial has created the perfect space and community for innovators like Meatly who are making the transition from R&D to commercialisation, and we’re looking forward to growing together at Grapht Works as we work to make cultivated meat more widely available for pets.”

Expanding cultivated meat manufacturing

Founded in 2022, Meatly develops cultivated meat for the pet food market and received UK regulatory authorisation in 2024, becoming the first business in Europe to receive approval to sell cultivated meat.

In 2025, it launched the world’s first cultivated pet food. It has also developed its own bioreactors and culture medium to reduce production costs and support commercially viable manufacturing.

Grapht Works forms part of Imperial’s wider Old Oak Innovation Cluster, which sits within the WestTech London innovation ecosystem. The site provides secure industrial space for prototyping, pilot production and demonstration manufacturing, supporting businesses working across areas including cleantech, advanced materials, robotics, engineering biology and industrial automation.

Alice Sewell, Imperial’s Investment Director, said: “Our investment in Grapht Works was built on a belief that this is where the UK’s next generation of industrial companies could be built, if they had the right infrastructure. With Meatly taking this step towards full scale production in 2027, it shows that our vision is starting to be realised.”

Meatly joins existing Grapht Works businesses including Solena Materials and Aed Energy, adding to the site’s growing community of companies developing technologies for commercial-scale manufacturing.
