Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream has issued a voluntary recall of one batch of Häagen-Dazs Chocolate Dark Chocolate Mini Bars in the US after discovering the product may contain undeclared wheat.
The safety, quality, and integrity of our products remain our number one priority. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this action represents to both our consumers and retail customers.”
The affected six-count packs were distributed to Kroger and Giant Eagle and carry batch code LLA519501 with a Best By date of 31 January 2027.
The company explained that products containing wheat were likely “repacked into the incorrect packaging at the beginning of a production run”, which meant the label did not list the allergen.
It warned that undeclared allergens pose a serious risk and that consumers with wheat allergies or sensitivities could face a “serious or life-threatening allergic reaction” if they eat the affected bars.
Dreyer’s confirmed it has received no reports of illnesses or injuries and stressed that the issue affects no other Häagen-Dazs products or batches of the mini bars. Consumers can check batch codes beneath the Best By date on pack.
In the recall notice, Dreyer’s stated: “The safety, quality, and integrity of our products remain our number one priority. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this action represents to both our consumers and retail customers.”
The company added that it is working with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on the recall and “will cooperate with them fully”.
The company is telling consumers who purchased the recalled Häagen-Dazs mini ice cream bars to avoid eating them. They should dispose of the product or return it to the retailer for a full refund.
