The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has urgently alerted businesses and consumers after discovering that a popular Dubai-style chocolate contains undeclared peanuts, posing a “serious risk” to anyone with a peanut allergy.

The affected product, Noesis Schokolade Love of Dubai, has been sold in the UK through various retailers.

According to the FSA, the chocolate, produced by manufacturer NOESIS Gida ve Unlu Mam Ltd, contains peanuts not listed on the label, breaching food safety regulations.

In a statement, the FSA said:

We are notifying consumers and food business who have purchased Noesis Schokolade Love of Dubai chocolate that this product contains peanut, which is not mentioned on the label, making it a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy to peanuts.”

All lot numbers and best-before dates of the 95g bar contain the allergen. However, the FSA noted that UK distributor Black Sea Trading Ltd remains “uncontactable.”

The move comes as Dubai-inspired confectionery grows in popularity, with UK retailers rushing to stock pistachio- and knafeh-flavoured sweets fuelled by TikTok trends. Supermarkets including Aldi, Lidl and Waitrose have recently launched Dubai-style chocolate lines, while premium brand Godiva made a high-profile return to UK grocery last month with an exclusive Tesco collaboration.

The FSA has advised food businesses stocking the product to immediately stop sales, withdraw stock, and recall any units already sold at retail. They are also working with enforcement authorities to investigate the issue and order the withdrawal or recall of the affected products.

FSA consumer advice

The agency has advised consumers, particularly those with peanut allergies, to avoid eating the chocolate. they added:

Don’t buy this product, and if you have bought it, don’t eat it, especially if you have a peanut allergy. Dispose of the product at home and get in touch with your local Trading Standards in Great Britain or Environmental Health Officers in Northern Ireland, to let them know where you purchased it.”

This marks the second significant FSA warning in recent weeks linked to Dubai-style confectionery. In June, the agency cautioned that some imported chocolate bars mimicking the Middle Eastern flavours may not comply with UK allergen labelling laws.
