Dimitra and NACCU have partnered to help over one million Kenyan coffee farmers comply with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). Using Dimitra’s Connected Coffee platform, farmers can digitally map their farms, assess deforestation risks, and generate compliance reports, while advancing carbon and ESG practices to access premium EU markets.

Smallholder coffee farmers in Kenya can now register farms and track sustainability practices digitally through Dimitra’s mobile platform.

Dimitra, a global agricultural technology and sustainability leader, has partnered with the National Coffee Cooperative Union (NACCU) to launch a nationwide initiative advancing environmental compliance, carbon accounting, and ESG practices across Kenya’s coffee sector.

The collaboration leverages Dimitra’s AI-driven Connected Coffee platform alongside NACCU’s network of over one million smallholder coffee farmers. The initiative is designed to help farmers meet the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which comes into effect on 31 December 2025 and requires all coffee exports from Kenya to the EU to be fully traceable and deforestation-free.

This partnership equips Kenyan coffee farmers and cooperatives with the tools needed to meet EU environmental standards, strengthen access to premium markets, and advance sustainability, carbon, and ESG compliance across the coffee value chain.”

Through the platform, farmers will digitally register their farms, map land using GPS, complete deforestation risk surveys, and generate EUDR-compliant reports. The mobile application, available in English and Swahili and capable of offline use, ensures that producers in key coffee-growing regions such as Meru, Kipkelion, Kiambu, Nyeri, and Mt. Elgon can participate.

Jon Trask, CEO of Dimitra, said: “This partnership equips Kenyan coffee farmers and cooperatives with the tools needed to meet EU environmental standards, strengthen access to premium markets, and advance sustainability, carbon, and ESG compliance across the coffee value chain.”

Festus Bett, CEO of NACCU, added: “By combining digital technology with grassroots coordination, we are bringing millions of smallholder farmers into global compliance, ensuring sustainable coffee exports and transparent agricultural value chains.”

The agreement, formalised on 26 September, highlights strong national and local commitment to driving sustainable coffee production in Kenya and preparing farmers for the evolving requirements of international markets.
