Dr Nikos Mavroudis is an Associate Professor in Food Quality and Regulation in the Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences, University of Reading.
Dr Nikos Mavroudis is an Associate Professor in Food Quality and Regulation in the Dept. of Food and Nutritional Sciences, University of Reading.
He has been an academic since 2010, having working previously as a Project Leader for Unilever for nearly a decade. Nikos was responsible for developing the separation expertise within central R&D laboratories of Unilever in UK and The Netherlands.
His academic research promotes food security and food safety, primarily via designing industrial separation technologies that produce biorefined ingredients from
agri-food biomass, while also removing harmful compounds that could cause adverse human health effects upon acute or long-term exposure to them. He also promotes food quality systems initiatives and education overseas, either as member of technical advisory committees or by providing CPD courses.
Nikos has secured research funding in excess of £9.0 million through Industry, GCRF, EU-FP7, EU-FP5, NIHR and the Swedish Research Council for Agriculture and Foods. He has published 11 papers, nine globally granted patents, three patent applications and one book chapter.
