Campbell Soup Company (NYSE:CPB) today received the Executive Women of New Jersey (EWNJ) 2014 Corporate Board Gender Diversity Award, recognizing publicly-held companies headquartered in New Jersey who have at least three women on their boards.

With five women on its board of directors, Campbell has the highest number of female board members among all 111 New Jersey companies on the Russell 3000 Index, according to the EWNJ’s inaugural report released today, titled A Seat at the Table: Celebrating Women and Board Leadership. A Seat at the Table reported 12 percent of board seats nationally were held by women, with New Jersey companies faring slightly better at 14 percent. Campbell’s five women members make up 33 percent of its board.

Denise Morrison, President and Chief Executive Officer of Campbell, was the keynote speaker at the event held in East Brunswick, N.J.

“At Campbell, we’ve committed ourselves to building a diverse workforce and an inclusive workplace that fosters innovation,” said Morrison. “All companies that take the advancement of women seriously, and hold leaders accountable, will win with consumers and create a high performance culture.”

Additionally, the report notes that only four of New Jersey’s 111 publicly-held companies are led by a female CEO. Morrison is the first female CEO in Campbell’s 145-year history.

A Seat at the Table: Celebrating Women and Board Leadership was produced in collaboration with PwC US and highlights the number of women on the boards of New Jersey’s leading publicly-held corporations. The full results are available at www.ewnj.org.
