Sharper focus on strategic goals

Arla Foods Ingredients Group is now an official subsidiary of Arla Foods. The new Arla Foods Ingredients is now a reality. As of 1 April 2011, all Arla Foods Ingredients’ whey-based activities were officially transferred to a new company. The reorganisation sets the stage for implementing the company’s ambitious growth strategy. Although little will change in the short term, long-term benefits will be drawn from the sharper focus on key strategic challenges. One of them involves securing the raw materials necessary to further growth. Only recently, Arla Foods Ingredients added a new strategic whey partner to its list – DMK in Germany. Established partnerships are in operation in Argentina, France, Norway and Sweden, with more planned in the future.

Clear management focus

Almost a year of legal procedures and administrative preparation has gone by since the reorganisation was announced last May. A limited partnership company, Arla Foods Ingredients Group P/S is now formally a wholly owned subsidiary of the Arla Foods Group. “Arla Foods Ingredients is a leading player on the global market for whey proteins. Our new status as an independent business gives the clear management focus that will enable us to consolidate and expand our activities to the benefit of our customers and our owners,” says Henrik Andersen, CEO.

Towards a doubling of turnover

CEO at Arla Foods, Peter Tuborgh, sees the move as another step towards the group’s 2015 strategy. “We are well on the way to our goal, which is to double the turnover from our whey and ingredients activities,” he says. Customers, suppliers and employees have all been personally informed of Arla Foods Ingredients’ new independent status.
