Asahi reorganises its domestic soft drinks and food businesses

Asahi Group Holdings, a leading brewery and soft drink company based in Tokyo, Japan, is set to reorganise its domestic soft drinks business and food business effective 1 January 2016.


Through the implementation of its Medium-Term Management Plan 2015, the Company plans to strengthen its core domestic businesses in Japan and create new growth drivers overseas. The planned reorganisation will result in a management structure that increases the speed of decision-making and more rapidly responds to change.

Asahi Group Foods, Ltd. expected to make sales exceeding 100.0 billion yen

Highlights of the reorganisation include:

  • Consolidation of the non-refrigerated beverage business Calpis Co., Ltd. into Asahi Soft Drinks
  • Establishment of a new company to operate the functional foods business (mail-order business, functional raw material) and animal feed business
  • Consolidation of Asahi’s food businesses into newly established Asahi Group Foods, Ltd. to create a new food company with sales exceeding 100.0 billion yen.

In addition, Noriyuki Karasawa, president of Asahi Food and Healthcare Co., Ltd., is scheduled to assume office as president and representative director of newly established Asahi Group Foods, Ltd.
